Right now, we're looking for a Financial Controller to join our Finance team.
In this role, you'll build and own the core accounting and controlling processes for a company operating across 20+ markets — from month-end close and statutory reporting to multi-country VAT, AR/AP cycles, and internal controls. You'll work closely with our Finance team and external accounting firm to ensure accurate, compliant reporting across multiple legal entities, while also supporting the setup of our new Hungarian entity.

What you will do
- Month-end close — Run the full close across all entities: revenue recognition, inventory and COGS accounting, bank reconciliations, and intercompany matching. Work with our external accounting firm to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Statutory reporting — Prepare and submit statutory accounts for each entity, lead intercompany eliminations, and support the consolidated group view.
- Take ownership of the Hungarian entity setup and ongoing management of the other legal entities.
- Accounts receivable — Build and run the monthly B2B invoicing cycle, implement AR matching, manage aged AR reporting, and perform monthly revenue leakage checks.
- Accounts payable & treasury — Run the weekly payment cycle: invoice allocation, 3-way PO/GR/invoice matching, finance approval against cashflow position, bank uploads, and corporate card reconciliation.
- Tax compliance — Prepare and submit VAT returns across EU and non-EU jurisdictions, manage instalment arrangements where applicable, and coordinate corporate income tax provisioning and filing with external advisors.
- Controls & policy — Build a SOX-lite internal controls framework. Draft and enforce the Finance policy manual: expense policy, delegation of authority, and segregation of duties.
- Finance automation — Partner with the CFO to drive the Finance automation backlog and build an AI-native, world-class Finance function.
- This role reports directly to the CFO.

Skills & Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant — Hungarian CPA preferred; ACA, ACCA, or CIMA also welcomed
- 5+ years post-qualification experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, or equivalent
- Proven experience running month-end close and statutory reporting across multiple legal entities and currencies
- Hands-on tax experience — multi-country VAT and corporate income tax is a strong advantage
- Comfortable building processes from scratch in a small team without a large support structure
- Strong commitment to internal controls, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance
- Fluent in English and Hungarian
- Experience with a cloud accounting system such as Xero or QuickBooks is an advantage
- Enthusiasm for AI-assisted Finance workflows and automation — experience with Claude or similar tools is a plus
